Review

Strikemaster are a Kiwi 3 piece combo from the early 80's. Although not immediately obvious from the simple monotone sleeve design Good 'N' Ready is actually a live album that was recorded at the Ascot Theatre, Newtown New Zealand a couple of decades back. Competent hard rock which would probably not have great appeal to the true metal fan. The sound production is clear, the instrumentation & vocal harmonies gel cohesively but surprisingly for a live recording the crowd levels are somewhat subdued. Up tempo numbers Time Is On My Side, Hey You, It's Not My Fight edge toward the hard rock side of a NWOBHM sound. A ridiculously rare LP that is probably sought after more for its scarcity than its musical content. Not bad by any means but for some the chase might be better than the catch.
