Soso, da kommt tatsächlich noch mal ein neues Album von PICTURE. Studiomäßig hatte man ja seit "Marathon" nichts mehr von den Holländern vernommen. Wer wie ich die Alben ab Traitor zu den stärkeren der Band zählt und "Eternal dark" mitsingen kann wird erstmal erfreut sein, daß PICTURE eine gewisse Grundhärte beibehalten haben.

War mir "Diamond dreamer" und die Alben davor etwas zu lasch und "Marathon" zwar sehr gut, aber auch kommerziell, ist "Old dogs, new tricks" wieder mehr in Richtung NWoBHM angesiedelt (sehr gut hörbar in "Blood out of a stone").

Die rauhe Stimme von Pete Lovell (der auch bei dem kurzlebigen Projekt EMERGENCY tätig war) passt natürlich hervorragend zu dem Material von PICTURE. Ein Übersong wie "Live by the sword" wird dadurch erst so richtig gut.

Wir dürfen uns freuen: "Old dogs new tricks" ist eine der wenigen wirklich gelungenen Reunion-Projekte und ein echtes Einkaufsmuß für jeden 80er Metal-Fan. Da bleibt nur zu hoffen, daß die Band so weitermacht.

Since 1987 the band stopped activity but in 2008 they came back with a Live-Album. Their new studio try "Old dogs, new tricks" remembers me at the days of "Traitor" or "Eternal dark". The style of the very good but quite commercial album "Marathon" is history and PICTURE concentrate on NWoBHM-influenced stuff like the strong "Blood out of a stone".

The strong vocals of Pete Lovell support the songs very good and great songs like "Live by the sword" win with his voice even more.

So we can be happy. "Old dogs new tricks" is one of the few necessary reunion-projects and a pleasure for all true 80s Metal-fans.
