Darking: Sons of steel

DARKING waren mir überhaupt kein Begriff, umso überraschter war ich von der CD "Sons of Steel". Bei Italien-Metal neueren Datums denke ich sofort an allerlei Kapellen die als Kindergartenbeschallung sinnvoller sind als im heimischen CD-Spieler zu landen. Nicht so die Jungs aus Livorno.

Das Cover deutet nochmal auf Kindergarten hin, aber das ändert sich zum Glück und endgültig bei Betätigung der Play-Taste. Manchmal speediger Metal -und hier meine ich keine sinnlosen Bummtschacks in Lichtgeschwindigkeit- manchmal epische Sounds, die z.B. beim Titelsong geradezu hymnenhaft rüberkommen, erfreut ohne wenn und aber.

Ab und zu hört man, daß der Sänger kein englischer Muttersprachler ist, aber zum Glück wirkt das nicht nervtötend wie das leider so häufig bei Italienern der Fall ist. Es bleibt ein rundum gelungenes Debut-Album für alle qualitätsbewußten True Metaller und ein großes Versprechen für die Zukunft der Band.

DARKING were totally uknown to me, so I was really surprised when I listened to "Sons of steel". With new italian Metal I have sometimes problems because of its Kindergarten-sound. But the guys from Livorno play in great 80s tradition although the coverartwork could support the first idea about their sound. It does not. Sometimes epic, sometimes speedy well produced Metal in great 80s tradition (listen to the title track - glorious!) will bring a lot of fans to enthusiasm.

The vocalist is not the total master of English language (as we all are not), but its not enerving and he is able to pronounce most of the words as they needed to be.

So all in all we can listen to a really good Debut-album and a promising band for more great stuff in the future.
