Was wißt Ihr über Irland? ....Insel neben Großbritannien, Schafe, grüne Hügel, Whiskey.....mhm. Meistens war es das schon, aber an Heavy Metal denk mit Sicherheit erstmal keiner.

Das ist sicherlich auch berechtigt, war doch Irland in den 80ern ungefähr so veröffentlichungsfreudig wie Portugal oder Island. Das heißt im Klartext. Metal-Bands muß(te) man mit der Lupe suchen.

Nun, STEEL TORMENTOR sind die führende Metal-Band in Irland. Nicht nur, weil Phil Lynnot nicht mehr lebt, sondern weil es kaum noch andere gibt und die Qualität des Materials auf "Return of a king" wirklich außergewöhnlich gut ist.

Ja, das ist eine echte Überraschung. In ihrem Lande brauchen STEEL TORMENTOR keine Konkurrenz fürchten, aber auch außerhalb gehören sie zu den richtig guten.

Der melodiöse Heavy Metal im Post-NWoBHM-Stil kommt druckvoll, wohldurchdacht und frißt sich angenehm ins Ohr. Natürlich gehört dazu auch ein guter Sänger und James Kelly erfüllt alle Voraussetzungen. Mit dem Titelsong hat man soger einen Longtrack mit über 13 Minuten eingspielt und hält über die ganze Zeit das hohe Niveau, was man für ein solches Experiment braucht.

So resümieren wir, daß aus Irland endlich einmal seit langer Zeit wieder etwas ganz starkes in Sachen Heavy Metal importiert ist und hoffen, dass die Band so weitermacht.

What do you know about Ireland? ...an Island beside the UK....Sheeps, green hills, Whiskey....and maybe thats all. But for sure you won't think about Heavy Metal coming from there.

In the 80s we had some countries in Europe where only very few Metal bands came from like Iceland, Portugal, Bulgaria or Ireland.

So its a nice surprise that Heavy Metal is still alive even on the green Island and many years after Phil Lynott. And its even a bigger surprise that the quality of the material we can listen to on "Return of a king" is outstanding.

Although STEEL TORMENTOR has no competitors in its own country, there is no need to be afraid to conquer the international market.

The melodic Post-NWoBHM-sound shows eight songs with fine musicianship, good production and perfectly fitting vocals. So when you listen to the songs you will keep them in your mind and even the long title track shows that the band is able to create very interesting song structures.

To tell long stories in more short words: Since a long time there's finally a great new irish band showing a really convincing album to Europe and the world, so lets hope they will continue their work as they did with "Return of a king" and the irish Metal desert will not be dry anymore.
