Review

For an EMI (danish) pressing it's quite amazing that copies of the vinyl constantly are offered between 30 and 40 $ each time! There should be thousands and thousands copies being available but the price never goes down. I love the coverartwork and JACKAL's style is indeed interesting though I've my problems with "Rise". On one hand there's the sheer power of Metal delivered by an absolutely AWESOME guitar wizard that leaves you more than once with opened mouth listening to his astonishing skills and solos that make you wanna cum. On the other hand, and this is the sad thing, JACKAL also look with the other eye in the Poser direction, combining some Poser Metal elements with melodic Power Metal and here and there do sound as modern as only a 1990 LP could sound like. Kinda love/hate album, although you should listen at least once to this guitar god's electric witchery. In places outstanding guitar work in best US tradition! Just take the instrumental "Escape"...

Into the night
I'm lying

Stealing hearts
Is it love
Escape
Hot love
Walking in the distance
Hold on
Why?
