Metal Jan: The Best of ...?!

Keine Bange Freunde der stählernen Unterhaltungsmusik, das Cover lässt keinerlei Rückschlüsse auf das zu erwartende Spektakel ziehen. Leider wurde diese Truppe im Osteuropa Heavy Metal Buch vollkommen außen vor gelassen, was auch verständlich ist, da es sich bei Metal Jan um eine sogenannte "Village Metal" Band handelt, die zwar schon seit ewigen Zeiten (1986) Musik macht, aber bis auf ein Demo aus dem Jahre 1992 und diese Best Of CD nix veröffentlicht hat und lediglich auf Dorffesten o.ä. auftrat und dort ihre CD's an den Mann brachte. Nur kurz zum allgemeinen Verständnis, die ersten 10 Songs stellen das komplette 92er Demo in re-recordeter Form dar und stilistisch passen alle Tracks auf der CD auch haargenau in diese Zeit. Unbeachtet von allen gammelte eine der geilsten tschechischen Power Metal Bands jahrelang vor sich hin und durfte nur vom Erfolg oder zumindest der verdienten Beachtung träumen. Ihr wollt Vergleiche? Wie wäre es denn mit Riot ("Thundersteel"), Helloween ("Keeper of the 7 keys") oder Pokolgep ("Pokoli Szinjatek")? Kneift's da schon im Schritt? Für eine "Village Metal" Band hatten die Jungs wirklich ausgezeichnet an den Songs und ganz besonders an ihren instrumentalen Fähigkeiten gefeilt (Zeit genug dazu hatten sie ja) und schafften es 2002 diese hammerharte CD aufzunehmen die außer dem leicht (!!) modernen Drumsound, doublebassdominierten Power/Speed Metal der truesten Sorte offeriert. Solltet ihr zu der nicht gerade geringen Ansammlung der Fans oben genannter Bands gehören, dann ist es jetzt an euch aktiv zu werden und zumindest nachträglich den Burschen anerkennend auf die Schulter zu klopfen. Verdient haben sie's sich allemal.

The story of Metal Jan is quite representative for a ton of czech bands that were active from the mid 80's (1986) but never really got any success eventhough their Metal was highly interesting and known by a wider audience it would have been much easier to get a deal or at least alot more recognition that they truly did deserve. This CD contains their Demo from 1992 in re-recorded form plus one bonus track and due to the fact that they were into classic Power/Speed Metal with an melodic touch similar to bands such as Riot ("Thundersteel"), Helloween ("Keeper of the 7 keys") or Pokolgep ("Pokoli Szinjatek") and in my opinion even are topping "Thundersteel" that just survived by 3 extraordinary Speed Metal trax while in case of Metal Jan 75 % of the album delivers full speed ahead, a guitar riff-o-rama and doublebassdrum lead upper class Power Metal on an instrumental level that other bands of that genre can just dream about! In my eyes the hottest unsigned band from Czech Rep. honestly eventhough the band has split up definitely now and the last remaining copies of this CD are now sold off. I'm glad that I got one of the last copies to make them more known and everything I can advice to you is that if you're into classic Power/Speed Metal bands like the ones mentioned above then you have to try this undiscovered jewel of steel! If not then I can't help you anymore...
