Assault: Survival in the streets

Assault began as speed outfit, gained local popularity, got an international deal but never made their breakthrough. It's a pity, beacuse their only album "Survival in the streets" is not really bad. Rough but catchy songs, a memorable singer and cover artwork, but a weak production and no more Speed Metal but typical mideighties stuff. If you buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Assault waren ein anfangs kanadisches Speed Kommando, das es trotz eines gewissen Bekanntheitsgrades und einer deutschen Plattenfirma nicht geschafft hat, sich durchzusetzen. Dabei ist die LP "Survival in the Street" wirklich nicht schlecht. Recht raue Songs mit Ohrwurmcharakter, flott gespielt, aber leider mit durchschnittlicher Produktion. Und: kein Speed Metal mehr! Der Sänger kann als charismatisch durchgehen, das Cover ist eigentlich auch nicht schlecht gemacht. Warum es angesichts der vorhandenen Qualität nichts geworden ist mit Assault, versteht wohl niemand, darum sollte man sich die LP zumindest heute kaufen, wer auch rauen US Metal steht, wird nicht enttäuscht.
