Desert Sin: The edge of horizon

Sind wir mal ehrlich. Wieviele gute Heavy Metal-Bands kamen bisher aus Österreich?...nach einigem Nachdenken: GALLOWS POLE, BLOWIN FREE, STORMWAVE, MANIAC.....und dann fallen einem mit noch größerer Mühe vielleicht noch ein paar interessante Raritäten wie HAPPL oder SIMSON ein und Bands deren output sehr durchwachsen war und ist (BLIND PETITION, EDENBRIDGE). DESERT SIN sind seit langer langer Zeit ein echter neuer rot-weiß-roter Lichtblick und tatsächlich nicht einmal aus der Hauptstadt Wien, sondern aus Tirol. "Shadow Queen" ist als Opener geradezu perfekt, da hier besonders gut herauskommt, daß die Band einen sehr starken Sänger am Werk hat. Zum Glück bleibt man auch im folgenden dem powervollen Heavy Metal verhaftet und bewegt sich nicht in tralala-Gefilde. Natürlich könnte ab und zu noch etwas am Songwriting gearbeitet werden, aber einige echte Highlights sind schon dabei. Eine sehr vielversprechende Band!

A really fine Debut album from one of the few Austrian Metal bands. Since GALLOWS POLE there was not too much from Austria and most bands are still dead (STORMWAVE, MANIAC, BLOWIN FREE, SIMSON, HAPPL etc). Average stuff like EDENBRIDGE or BLIND PETITION (with a few exceptions) shows the tragic Metal situation all over the country. DESERT SIN are one ray in the dark because songs like "Shadow queen" show a lot of potential. There are not only strong songs on this album, but the band avoids speedy singalong stuff and we are pleasured with powerful songs like "Edge of horizon" (with a small SAVATAGE-touch) and some more. Good debut and very promising for the future!
