Describe your way to Heavy Metal:
Well, I guess I’m just another victim of the “Twisted Sister”-phenomenon. About 20 years ago “Stay Hungry” was my first HM/HR record (like sooo many others) and in the eyes of the older “true” metalheads I must have been as obnoxious and pathetic as I find 11yr-old HAMMERFALL-fans today. I quickly tried to educate myself and bands like WASP, ACCEPT, JUDAS PRIEST and MOTLEY CRUE followed. While my friends started “outgrowing” Metal one by one I discovered Speed/Power/Thrash Metal and bands like LIVING DEATH, AGENT STEEL, METALLICA, RUNNING WILD, CELTIC FROST, pre-Kiske-HELLOWEEN etc, but also some punk/hc/crossover. I ignored the whole Death Metal thing until I discovered the mighty “I.N.R.I” by SARCOFAGO, and then started checking out MORBID ANGEL, BOLT THROWER, BATHORY etc...
How and when did you become a collector?
I’ve got the collector-gene! I guess it started with smurfs & comics about 25 years ago;-)... The more “serious” Metal-collecting started about 5 years ago, when I had a personal HM revival. I had been listening more to various strange post-punk, crossover, electro etc for a few years, but then I came across some odd-looking and soon-to-be personal top-faves like the “Metal Deadness” split-LP, RIPPER, BLACK DEATH, HOLOCAUST etc and bought them for the cool cover-art. Musically they surprised me however, and soon my Metal fetish was rekindled.
What kind of stuff do you collect?
Nowdays it’s mostly vinyl in all formats. Mainly LP’s/12”s, but also some 7”s I find special. I buy some CD-reissues, but I wouldn’t count that as collecting
Which styles do you collect?
No particular styles, just good and original songwriters in any Metal genre from the 80’s. Got a weak spot for odd doom/occult/horror/eerie Metal though... I also have a side-hobby of searching out “Incredibly Strange Metal”, like really ultra-shitty stuff, bands with weird images/graphix, all-girl bands, kids doing Metal, Metal Enterprises-records and other “Metalploitation” labels etc... (but this interest is more linked to my other non-metal interests and aesthetics)
How big is your collection?
Relatively small. Out of my complete record collection, Metal constitutes a little less than half of it, but is comperatively the biggest style by far: Perhaps 1000 LPs/12”s, less than a 100 7”s, 200 CDs + a couple of hundred trade-items. I never keep anything “ok” or half-decent in my collection, only the titles I find special in some way

Record fairs, local stores, e-lists, friends, e-bay and I also do some trading

4. THE HAND OF DOOM (GER) – poisonoise LP ’79 (BRUTAL old-school/nwobhm-style HM/HR!)

3. OMEN SEARCHER (UK) – teacher of sin/too much 7” (“teacher...” is such a bloody awsome piece of music..)
4. MANNINYA BLADE (SWE) – the barbarian 7” 84 (crushing mid-paced power/thrash bulldozer!)
5. REQUIEM (UK) – sacrificial wanderer/angel of sin 7” 80 (another great, heavy and infinitely rare 7”)
6. 220 VOLT – prisoner of war/sauron 7” 82 (so much better than their LPs it’s just ridiculous...)
7. WHITE HELL (JAP/USA) – lucifer 7” EP 85 (raw & evil VENOM-clones!)
8. KAT (POL) – ustatni tabor/noce szatana 7” 85 (Another one which slays the debut LP!)
9. PENTAGRAM (CHILE) – fatal predictions/demoniac possession 7” 87 (perfect deathrash – the coolest vocalist ever)
10. BLACK VIRGIN (USA) – 44. killer 7” 83 (Nothing like the killer LP, but still a find!)
As usual there are equally or more rare stuff in the crates, but these are especially dear to me.

Trade = as often as possible. Buy = more often than possible. Sell = occationally, but only from my tradelist.

Not yet. Meet me at my deathbed...
