The early NewWaveOfGermanHeavyMetal 7"-scene is a relatively unexplored area, and I guess it's mostly due to the fact that the country's HM vinyl output as a whole didn't explode into its humungous size until a few years after the NWOBHM- or FWOSHM-scenes. Compared to its size, Germany produced significantly less HM 7"s per capita between 1979-1982 than many other prominent 'Metal countries', but that still makes quite a few and we're gonna do our best highlight the most essential ones
(check out The Heavy Metal Mania for a more complete list of old German Metal singles ..but note the search-term isn't 100% effective).
Trivales' 1981 3-tracker count among the must-buys here. This is simply magical Hard Rocking Almostmetal, oozing with d.i.y./underground spirit without coming off as too unpolished. Marita's voice is their secret weapon and as usual I can only come up with really obscure comparisons, like how her austere voice makes me think of the mesmerizing Silvana Aliotta of olde Italian psych-cultsters Circus 200. That darkened vibe certainly carries over.
For your mix-tape, "Down To Underground" is the most obvious pick for its heavy nwobhm-'79 leads, but neither the catchy "In The Morning" or the vaguely progish "End of the World" is far behind.
So far this EP seems practically unknown among collectors, so I suggest you grab a copy asap before our hype ruins the fun for everyone (sorry about that).
