A friend in need
Except of the bass player this group doesn't look so much Metal and apart from the impressive opener that I'd barely label Melodic Metal these PARAGON from California sold their souls to pompish Hard Rock/AOR, but that kind of melodic Hard Rock that leaves wet spots in your panties. Like so many other bands of that genre from all over the US of A their playground was the underground. And that's a shame because imo they had the needed hit potential to make their way through the hit parades, although there's a slightly 70's touch coming with each number. "A friend in need" shows parallels to eastgerman Prog Rockers KARAT on their late 70's/early 80's heavier impressive phase in case anyone knows them. Great vocalist, remarkable melodies, raw guitar solos and playing, whatever is required, PARAGON delivered it! Plus a tasty cover artwork if that's a reason to buy records for anyone out there. A pompish masterpiece ...
