A typical Iron works band imo, when Dave Richards wouldn't have signed them, then no other label would have given them any chance. And this not without any serious reason. I never liked that album, although 50 % of it is quite killer Thrash with awesome raw production and Joey Freeman on the micro shows strong similarities to Cronos. BUT maybe it's a fault of the desert sun or whatever, their songwriting appears somewhat WEIRD that it's hard to follow their structures because they're changing the tempo within seconds in such a drastical way from almost grinding parts to creepy slow rhythm that it's not really a pleasure to play that record or when you did so and "wanted to give them another chance" you'll soon after regret that and feel so bored after 2 or 3 trax that you'll better take it off the turntable. I don't wanna say it's a crap record and they surely have been fabulous musicians which can be heard during the solo parts but it's just a barely bearable record if you're more into straight Thrash. "Surviving" could have been something to remember positively after 20 years especially due to that ultra heavy production and the outstanding vocalist but the only album I can compare it with is the disaster on the Disturbed LP. They did mutilate themselves with their "progressive shit". The record is fortunately not expensive...just watch out for that incredible terrible looking cover!
