Correcting the errors of the old Metalpage-review of this album is something I should have
done ages ago and I humbly apologize if this ancient review has sent any collector out there on wild goose-chases or spent ridiculous amounts of money on this one (this exact thing happened to a close friend of mine - true story!).
The fact that it's hardly a top rarity is something that we can attribute to years of experience and statistics, and some initial hyperbole from way back when it was first 'discovered' is excusable and quite a common phenomenon in the world of record collecting. Sure, ALL Malaysian vinyl from this period are rare, but this is actually one of the more common ones in this subset. The most important thing about this album that we really need to set straight is however this: There is exactly 1 (one) proper Heavy Metal tune featured on this MLP. The remaining 5 tracks consists of 4 lame ballads and one half-decent Hard Rock tune. Sure, "Dari Tanah" is a more than solid Heavy/Powermetaller, but one great song does not an Obscüre Metal must-have make.
An insteresting fact I've only just recently discovered is that the original, commercially available cassette version actually featured 10 tracks, where 3 out of the 4 additional tracks were real HR/HM tunes. None of them on par with "Dari Tanah" I'm afraid, and even if this would have been released on vinyl in all its full-lenght glory I'd personally still only rate it among the Malaysian mid-league. Except for the cover of course. That one still Rules.
Probably the rarest metal LP from Asia (along with 1st Sabbrabells LP) and one of the most sought after worldwide is "Menanti Kepastian". I really don't know why it was never released but what I do know is that it is a real gem! If you could only listen to dreamy metal anthems like "Abadi", "Perawan Kota" or the amazing power metal song "Dari Tanah" and you would realise how many are the metal treasures still to be discovered. The band sings in its local language but this is not irritating at all and note that the production and cover layout are highly professional. Grab it if you ever find the chance!
