Their heavy Motörhead-bias comes as no surprise since GWR was formed by one of their managers, Douglas Smith, who also managed many of the other 'head-related acts on the label. The meaning of the abbreviation is no more exciting than the fact that they had their office on Great Western Road, London, also shared by their mother-label Communiqé Records and small sibling-label Tombstone Records.
