Edessa’s REGINA VORACITY is yet another one of those highly promising, compilation-only acts whose career was cut severly short before reaching anything resembling full maturation. The band was formed in early 1990, consisting of Nikos (guitars), Christos (bass) and Gregoris (drums), who had – according to an interview in Power Metal Zine #3 – previously been active in local bands such as OUTSIDER and TRAITOR [note: Metal-Archives claims Nikos as a member of the more well-known PANDEMONIUM, but we haven’t been able to confirm this connection yet] Musical influences of the members included relatively diverse artists as BLACK SABBATH, QUEENSRŸCHE, SLAYER, VOIVOD and KING CRIMSON. Especially the latter two kind of makes sense when listening to the sole recording by REGINA VORACITY, a promotional track entitled “Euthanasia Tunel” which was also included on volume one of Mass Dementia Zine’s “Power Feast” tape compilation series. VOIVOD meets KING CRIMSON pretty much sums up this intriguing five-minute slab of instrumental Progressive/Techno-Thrash Metal.
Despite plans to locate a proper singer and enter a studio to record a “proper” demo (which might also have included the use of synthesizers according to previously mentioned interview), no further output is rumoured to exist.
