Hellraisers

Athens (Attica)
Heavy Metal, Hard Rock
Active:
1989-1991

HELLRAISERS was an Athenian Heavy Metal/Hard Rock group which – according to an interview in Power Metal Zine #3 – came to life in September 1989. The original lineup including Theodoris Atzoulatos (vocals), Manos Maltzakis (guitars), Giannis Lampoukas (bass) and Theodoris Zeakis (drums). With this formation, the band gave four concerts. In November 1990, bass duties were handed over to Christos Papandreou, while Dinos Pappas joined on lead guitars. After about a month of rehearsals with the new lineup, HELLRAISERS recorded their first (and only) demo at Studio Prisma (Galatsi). “Dreams on Fire” (1991) offers six tracks of Hard’n’Heavy with a few of the songs perhaps best described as power ballads. Excepting the very “underground” production and performance, “Princess of Heaven” kind of sounds like CRIMSON GLORY at their softest (otherwise, there is no real resemblance between the two bands though…) The arguably most catchy track of the bunch, “Magic World”, was also included on “Metalmaniac Vol. I”.

The demo tape release was followed up by more live shows, and it appears as if the band was planning a second demo as well as several new song titles are mentioned in the same interview. However, the band folded sometime around 1991, with at least three members (Dinos P., Theodoris Z. and Christos P.) proceeding with the formation of a group called SECOND ADVENT. We know of at least one demo tape being produced by this new band.
