FUNERAL DUSK was a relatively short-lived Black Metal band consisting of members associated with underground acts such as CARPATHIAN LORDS, CULT OF EIBON and SHADOW’S DANCE. Although mostly active during the late-1990s, their rudimentary take on the genre sounds more at home in the early 1990s (counting as a compliment any time). “Rehearsal Promo ‘98” (1998) offers three original tracks of primordial extremity, bordering between Black- and Death Metal similar to early MAYHEM – a comparison that’s further strengthened by the inclusion of a cover of “Deathcrush”. They also covered ANCIENT RITES’ classic demo track “Evil Prevails”. A second demo was also recorded the same year with the title “A Dark Millennium Is Coming……” (1998), featuring slightly more refined and melody-centered songwriting that echoes the contemporary works of CARPATHIAN LORDS.
The aforementioned cover of “Deathcrush” was also featured on the “Wrath from Hades” compilation series, issued by the Rhodes-based Black Trip Tapes.
