Faded Memory

Athens (Attica)
Heavy Metal, Power Metal, Speed Metal
Active:
1997-unknown

Another promising, but short-lived entry, FADED MEMORY was an Athenian Heavy/Power/Speed Metal act formed in 1997. Their sole recording, entitled “Entering Reality” was issued on CDr in 1998, featuring future HEATHENDOM frontman Dimitris Koutsouvelis (vocals) along with Manos Apostolopoulos (guitars), Marios Sargianos (guitars), Panos Agelikopoulos (bass) and Maximos Maximilianos (drums), while session keyboards was added by a fellow named Tasos (surname unknown).

Stylewise, “Entering Reality” hooks onto the speedier and less sugary end of European Heavy/Power Metal in a manner similar to BLOODSHED’s (contemporary Athenian band) second demo, “Fairyland” (1998), although with more keyboard backing. In addition to the vocal performance, highlights of the demo include the band’s propensity for speed (“Holy Sins”), but also more atmospheric passages (such as the opening section to “Forever Slave”, whose combination of riffs and keyboard pads sounds heavily inspired by 1990s Hellenic Black Metal).

Despite very positive response from domestic fanzines such as Steel Conjuring, no further recordings by FADED MEORY have surfaced so far.
