Eternal Winter

Not to be confused with their international namesakes (nor the more recent Greek Black Metal band WINTERN ETERNAL), ETERNAL WINTER was an Athenian-based group active in the mid-1990s during which they released at least three demo tapes.

The music contained on their third demo tape “Art Romance Poetry” (1997) (the only one available at the time of writing) is somewhat hard to pin down into a specific category, as it links elements of different styles of Metal into some sort of lightly Gothic-induced atmosphere. The rhythm-riffing follows the Heavy Metal-ized, palm-muted technique common to many Greek bands at the time, complemented by melodic lead guitar, prominent keyboards and Black/Death-styled vocals, backed up by digital percussion.
