Earth Majesty

EARTH MAJESTY was an Athenian Progressive Heavy Metal band, originally consisting of Greg Akassian (vocals – DECEIVER), Lakis and Sotiris Arvanitidis (both guitars – DECEIVER, SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION), Alexandros Tzanot (bass – DECEIVER, SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION) and Tasos Peppas (drums – DECEIVER, CHEWING GUM). The band first began writing songs under the name DECEIVER, but soon changed to their established moniker.

Their first studio entry came in June 1995 when the band entered Cacophonix Studios (Athens). The fruit of this session was three songs planned to be included on a future demo release. A second studio session took place in November the same year, resulting in one more track recorded. Together, these recordings constitute the material included on EARTH MAJESTY’s first (and only?) demo tape, released in 1996 under the title “Quest for Fantasy”. A very promising proposal crowned with awesome cover art, “Quest for Fantasy” presented four tracks of rather unique-sounding Progressive Heavy Metal, with elements of Doom- and Power Metal sneaking in as well.

In the wake of the demo’s release (around mid-1996), Sotiris A. left the band. Instead of a replacement on second guitar, EARTH MAJESTY recruited a keyboardist in the form of Sotiris Tessis. In early 1997 the original vocalist Greg A. also departed, being replaced by Takis Markou (vocals – CHEWING GUM). By this time, the band’s sound had gravitated more towards Progressive/Space Rock and additional rehearsal recordings were produced. These were never shared officially with the public, as the band broke up around the turn of the millennium. However, material dating from this period can nowadays be accessed via the band’s Facebook page.

After the break-up of EARTH MAJESTY, some of the members went on with other musical (non-metallic?) projects, such as CHEWING GUM and SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION.
