Another late-1990s entry from Thessaloniki’s underground scene, DISSOLUTION put out two demo tapes of old school Death Metal. On their first cassette “Eternal Bleeding” (1997), the band appears to have worked as a duo made up of John (vocals, guitars, bass) and George (drums). For the second and final offering “Before the End” (1998), the band expanded to include Haris Pazaroulas (guitars, bass, backing vocals – EMBRACE OF FEAR, STONE COLD DEAD, etc.) – although if we are to believe the liner-notes to “Eternal Bleeding”, he’d apparently already been a member of the band before the recording of the first demo.
Although crude in presentation, DISSOLUTION were eager to experiment with their song structures, often employing a succession of riffs where each was stranger than the one before. This gives the music a sense of unpredictability, which partly outweighs the (deliberately?) sloppy performance.
