DETHRET was a one-man operation, created in Athens by Markos Samaras in the late-1990s. Two demo tapes were released, both being quite rudimentary in presentation, featuring no cover art and with compositions consisting solely of guitars (alas, no bass, drums or vocals). Musically, the songs move mostly in the Heavy Metal zone, interspersed with METALLICA-styled Thrash riffs.
After a couple of years, following the arrival of additional members, DETHRET morphed into POLTERGEIST, which pursued a similar style, but more developed (still missing a vocalist, though). After releasing one demo CD entitled “Haunting Nightmares”, the name was changed once again into SOLITARY PAINYARD, although no material was released under this moniker.
Markos Samaras still remains active in the musical field as the owner of Wudsound Studio. For more info on POLTERGEIST and SOLITARY PAINYARD, head over to their respective pages in the archives.
