DARKNESS EVE was an Athenian Melodic Death Metal act, active during the late-1990s/early-2000s. During the recording of their one-track demo tape debut “Mind’s Oppression” (2000) at Active Studio (Athens), the band operated as a trio with Alexandros Kassotis (vocals, guitars, bass), Alex T. (guitars) and Nick P. (drums). By the time of their second demo effort, recorded once again at Active Studio and released later the same year on CDr under the title “The Art of Dying” (2000), the lineup had expanded into a quartet with the arrival of Fotis P. (vocals, bass), while George K. replaced Nick behind the drumkit. A third demo, entitled “War Parade” was also recorded sometime in the early 2000s, but was only distributed as a promo to magazines (at least one copy was sent to the Greek Metal Hammer).
Stylewise, DARKNESS EVE falls somewhere within the Melodic Death Metal spectrum, drawing on a mixture of Death-, Thrash- and Heavy Metal, with focus on the acrobatic guitar antics of Alexandros Kassotis and Alex T. Unfortunately, the band failed to acquire label support and seem to have split sometime in the early 2000s. Nowadays, guitarist Alexandros Kassotis stays active with HALF GRAMME OF SOMA, who’ve released three albums of Progressive/Psychedelic Rock.
