Dark Ritual

DARK RITUAL was/is (whether they’re still active or not remains unresolved) an Athenian Death Metal act allegedly formed in 1994. Since DARK RITUAL’s early demo recordings “Warriors of Death” (1998) and “Maybe Alive” (date unknown) are yet to be uncovered, we’ll have to settle with 2001’s combined cassette/CDr release “Fleshdrift” for a description of the band’s music.

“Fleshdrift” comes across as a merging of different Death Metal styles, combining a North American focus on technical proficiency and thundering rhythms with the melodic flair of Euro-Death. The competent and spirited performance coupled with thought-through compositions make this band a worthy recommendation for connoisseurs of underground DM.

(PS. Encyclopedia Metallum claims the band recorded an album in 2008 entitled “Under Ravenwings”, but this is most certainly not the Greek DARK RITUAL, but a group from Kazakhstan bearing the same name)
