Not to be confused with the more recent and also Athens-based Black Metal act bearing the same name, this post refers to the DAIMON of the 1990s consisting of members Paris, Aris and Giannis.
In spite of the elegant cover art adorning their three demo tapes, what DAIMON offers is a raw and primitive take on the Hellenic Black Metal sound. Songs tend to shift between harsch, droning blasts and folky atmospheric passages, which lead into pentatonic-based guitar solos. Sort of like a wayward Hellenic version of the early-2000s bedroom Black Metal phenomenon. However, their third and final release, “Hylas and the Nymphs” saw the band move into a more atmospheric Ambient/Dungeon/Synth direction, with varied results.
