COULD BE WORSE was a thrash/crossover/hardcore-outfit founded in Serres (Central Macedonia) back in 1988 with the following line-up: Petros (vocals), Giannis (guitars), Aggelos (guitars – REVENGE), Giorgos (bass) and Dimitris (drums). Although they only released one demo tape called “Uncontrolled Situations” (1988), they were fairly active during the late-1980s/early-1990s, with several gigs done in the northern parts of the country as well as participations in numerous metal- and punk-compilations (most of you probably know them from the widely distributed “Decapitated Compilation EP”). There are also a few rehearsal recordings floating around the underground, in case you want to hear more of C.B.W.
Musically, COULD BE WORSE often gravitates towards D.R.I.-styled thrash/crossover (i.e. metallic riffs mated with the raging straightforwardness of punk), although they’re probably closer to hardcore punk than pure metal, with lots of youthful energy pouring into the recordings. Moreover, the band aren’t afraid to experiment with slower/mellower passages between the full-on sonic assaults.
