BURNING EMPIRE came from Loutraki in the Peloponnese and played a blend of Heavy/Power Metal and Hard Rock. The band – which was partly named after a certain album by QUEENSRŸCHE – allegedly started out as a trio, but soon became a one-man band centered around guitarist Giannis Kontis. BURNING EMPIRE released at least one demo in 1993, a self-titled tape featuring six songs. To realise his vision, Giannis K. acquired the assitance of a friend of his named Vassilis Pierakeas, who handled vocals and bass on the recording, while the drums were provided through programmed percussion. One of the demo tracks (“Into the Abyss”) was also included in the Heavy-Rock Tapes compilation series.
Since this was pretty much a one-man operation located in a relatively peripheral region (in terms of Metal scenes, that is), the band didn’t do any gigging as far as we know.
