Alter Ego

Athens (Attica)
Heavy Metal, Hard Rock
Active:
1983-unknown

Formed by a group of Athenian musicians in 1983 while still in their early teens, ALTER EGO presented to the world an almost frustratingly energetic demo tape a couple of years down the road. The so-called “Demo 1985” remained buried for years, until the band’s guitarist Achilleas Diamantis was kind of to share the band’s work. We’re talking straightforward Heavy Metal/Hard Rock verging on Punk in its sheer intensity, yet well-played and graced with an elegant sense of melody in the guitar work that makes the songs stand out from each other. The band consisted of Agis Nikolakopoulos (vocals, bass), Achilleas Diamantis (guitars, backing vocals), George Merikas (guitars, backing vocals) and Bill Nikolopoulos (drums, backing vocals).

The guitarist Achilleas Diamantis remains an active musician, working in the fields of Rock, Jazz-Fusion and game/movie music while also providing his services as a producer and sound engineer.
