Non-Metal uploads thread

I was so sure we had an ancient thread on this subject, but apparently it was just an ancient idea of mine that never came to fruition. Indeed not a first...
I'm thinking this would be a cool way for anyone to share obscure, not yet digitzed music that at least has a
miniscule appeal to moderately open-minded HR/HM fans..

Revisiting this olde top underground fave I realize how the guitarist and/or songwriter must have been a pretty big Hard'n'Heavy rock fan, despite the otherwise severe outlandishness of the music. An 11 minute, 8-song must-hear for anyone who appreaciates Truly Unique Rock Music. Also best BC recording imho.
And no, despite the year of recording I don't think this one includes too much of that annoying, poorly aged '90s alterno-rock' sound...

I completely agree, the sound/recording on this album is their best work. I enjoyed comparing these versions to the same songs on the Brain ep - all of them are superior on this, especially Calling all Cars, which is like a completely different song. Standout tracks for me are "How's Your Neck", "Pig Knickers", and "The Horse Scissors" - with the latter being the most unhinged and chaotic in the best way.

I recall an old thread here where non-Metal music was shared, but it may have been specically for analogue synth stuff. Could that be what you were thinking of?
Thanks for the opporchancity to hear some more Bunty Chunks. Their songin the 'Top 20 non-Metal LPs' thread really confused me initially before winning me over in the end.

Quality- and genre-discussions aside, recordings like this will supersede just about any rare 80's Metal demo ever uploaded at this forum in mere

Once again, praise hail Sean Worrall and his mighty Organ Fanzine for introducing me to killer, ultra-obscure 'Pronk'-bands like this back in the early 90's. Maybe I'd casually describe FUNZiG as a mix of Cardiacs and early Faith No More, but it's kinda sad that this might also deter some potential fans..
Just check out the epic "23". If it's not up yer alley you won't appreciate the rest either. Also, you're trespassed from ever joining our local Robert Anton Wilson-fanclub chapter

After several listens I was hooked on this one. You can really hear the Cardiacs influence in the first couple of tracks and the epic “Pink”. I think “More Fish Like” is my favorite and has been stuck in my head the past 24 hours.
Makes me wonder what other cool obscure Pronk albums are out there - Dan, maybe we can get a top 10 at some point?

Interesting stuff, not as out-there as i was expecting but your early Faith No More comparison rings true. Definitely merits further listening. The singer really reminds me of someone else but annoyingly i can't think who right now.

A question: Is 'pronk' same as 'prog-punk' or 'punk-prog' or something entirely different?
I have finally downloaded both items and both are terrific. Can not help but wonder, why BC's songs are so short. No that they are ineffective, on the contrary, but they feel a little underused.
Graham, the vocalist of FUNZIG reminds me of Robin Scott, Kevin Rowland and Peter Murphy combined.
After first listen I think FUNZIG are fantastic. Will see what next listens will bring.

Re 'Pronk', i think you're correct, essentially Pro(gressive Pu)nk.
I think the brevity of BC's songs comes from that wish to dispense with conventional song structure whilst retaining the short sharp shock of punk. I understand the impulse entirely but agree that they often almost throw away great parts with that approach. Many bands could wring entire albums (or careers) out of the constituent parts of a single BC song.
Thanks for your suggestions on who the Funzig singer may have reminded me of. None quite hit the nail on the head but i think you were in the right musical area. It'll come to me eventually.

More weird shit now coming up - and uhm... I do wanna apologize for spending too much effort on this off-topic thread on the Metal'est of Metal forums, but please excuse an old man's fit of 90's nostalgia. It's a phase and I promise it will only last another month or 3..
SQUONK OPERA was a US (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) act that I once again discovered through The Organ fanzine back in the days. Pronk? Yeah, but unintentionally so. This is so outside anything I can think of but still so catchy and enticing - 90's alterno-vaudeville-prog? Fuck labels anyways.. "A Good Clock..", "Big Bang Bark" and "Swing With It" are the gems here.

After the first 30 or so seconds of this album passed I was expecting this to be a bit more challenging to get into - it turned out to be the opposite, very catchy, and clever. It almost has a laid back/doomy feel to it at some points. Excellent stuff!
I’d really like to hear their ‘94 full length when you get the chance.

Yeah, I guess "doomy" in the 90's 'crossover-indie' way. They kinda remind me of freaky UK godz/goddes'z Miranda Sex Garden, but with a more lighthearted, US college Performing Arts-major vibe.
Full-length debut tba soonish...
