@Rob:
I've also seen the comment on discogs, but I figure the line "This is the first pressing.." could have been written to set it apart from the Italian or other versions that were added before the first UK version.

Question is if it's only this version that came with poster? ---> http://www.discogs.com/Venom-Black-Meta ... se/3043851
That would indeed indicate that it's the very first pressing

I have that one (but missing insert + poster) plus this one: http://www.discogs.com/Venom-Black-Meta ... se/5429203
...and I'm just trying to figure out which version to keep, being a 1st-press-or-bust type collector.

There's lots of label-variant mysteries that need solving when you think about it, like which of the early Metal Blade pressings were the first - Yellow labels or Silver? Or the green, black and silver label variants of the early Shrapnel stuff?

Maybe you ask the HHR owner directly, as he's Venom vinyl collector and can tell you for sure what is what ...

Here's that auction, sounds like that guy has a plan about it:

DaN - I have the version in the first link of the two you posted (which states 1st press). It has the poster and lyric insert. That is the one you want to keep as first pressing (at least that's the one I am keeping!) Hope that helps.

This is absolutely something we should all get together on an try to formulate a definitive chronological order of. The label variations drive me insane sometimes. I just came across another one the other day (Celtic Frost "To Mega.." with a green Combat label that I've not seen before (most are all camo). What do you think?

70 It's NOT REAL VALUE. It's just the highest price one dumbass paid for this LP.

Is anyone familiar with this compilation?
It looks very promising, though I don't know a single output from it. Seems to be only US bands that released only one 7".

I've come across that one a few times in stores and on fairs and my reaction is always "this looks a bit too good to be true..". Never dared to actually hunt down some clips or check out the featured bands. Fear of Hipster/Stoner Rawk-cooties perhaps?

I'm only familiar with Wrath which is pretty OK proto-metal. According to the label (http://www.numerogroup.com/products/war ... -canticles)it's 70s hard rock/heavy psych/heavy prog/proto metal compilation containing bands with occult/epic/"gothic"/fantasy/mythological oriented lyrics. Sounds interesting indeed.

Great comp you are missing out if you don't buy it. The boardgame version is nice too with an exclusive 7".
