Any tips for Upstate, NY?

Hey fellas!
I might have an opportunity to work in the US for a couple of years or so. The chosen destination would be Upstate New York, somewhere between Buffalo and Rochester. Now, is there anything metal-related going on over there? Record fairs, festivals, stuff like that? Does anyone from here happen to live there or in driving distance, so that i don’t have to spend my free time counting the cows?
Cheers!

Well, to hand my LPs over to someone from a moving company, that will be the hardest part.

I think that there's already been a thread dealing with NY Metal (stores, scene etc.), so you'd better check the search function.

Nice to see that Pavlos has a sense of humor.
If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living Kuntz?

Well, nothing is settled yet. Obviously it takes quite some plaing before we decide to move with our kids (and my records) to different shores. If it happens, i would work for the construction department for an international food company that tries to establish itself on the north american market.

Based on how isolated Rochester is I would say the closest events will be if something happens in Toronto. I record hunted several times in the Toronto area when I was there for work and didn't find jack shit. But some some bands will surely play live there throughout the years.

Cool. It's still a long way to go though, but thanks in advance, i'll let you know if and when i made my move.
@Rob: Toronto would also be the closest international airport for us so i'm sure that i would go there from time to time. We will see...

Yeah, Toronto isn't that great for finding stuff. I was there around a year ago and spent almost an entire day looking through second hand shops and found maybe 10-12 items, most that aren't that sought after.
