ORKUS (Lit) - Gaudzia Varpai 1985 Recordings

Post by lunaboy »

ORKUS - 1985 .Early Lithuanian Heavy Metal/Hard Rock.Quite obscure band.Latter changed name to REBELHEART (back in 1991) and started to play commercial Hard Rock ala GnR.Nothing too special.Uploaded just for historical reasons and as legacy of early CCCP(Lithuanian/Baltic) Metal. If you liked PILIGRIMAS you should enjoy ORKUS as well.

Tracklist :

Lies! DAMN LIES!!
This was very special indeed and (thankfully) sunded nothing like Piligrimas - this sounds like some dusty/rotten/golden old NWOBHM demo lost in the annals of time. Remind me of LEGEND(Jersey) a lot, or even PAGAN ALTAR at some moments (Dar Viena karta). I absolutely adored this. Ginormous thanx for unearthing this gem, Jonas :!:

BBTD should release this on another super-heavy 375g vinyl. Would fit perfect on that label.

A futile request I'm sure, but what are the odds of finding more material with the band? Live, rehearsal... anything will do.

I have listened to this demo earlier this day. I'm not as enthousiastic as DaN, but it's a very good demo, I like this NWOBHM-vibe.

Well.I had somewhere 2 more ORKUS songs from 1988.Try to find these and post here.As far as I remember songs from 1988 sounds more mature and Heavier.By the way band formed in 1983/84 at school and they were inactive when two band members went to military service in soviet army.Band again started to rehearse in 1987/1988.Interesing fact is that when I played in Death Metal band PESSIMUS back in 1992 we had one gig together with REBELHEART (Post ORKUS band.Same members+New Vocalist).I can catch these guys when I travel to Kaunas(Second biggest city in Lithuania) and ask for early recordings.

Give "Pavasario Saukliai" one last play before you write them off, you won't be disappointed

Ok, I'll check this out due to all that fanboyism from DaN.
Thanks in advance.

so this is how metal sounds in Lithuania?..................because im totally hooked! this was beyond good for me since im living a phase of "hunting the coolest but simpliest riffs" and this band fits there....plus while i was stoned listenin to it for the first time, i got hypnotized by the repetition in the songs, which for me was very very cool :D
