OK, how 'bout trying to decypher the lyrics of this masterpiece of lyric prog/power metal? After my efforts this morning I came up with these (haven't tried anything with "Matter over mind" yet) which are not much, but are a good starting point. I know that some might not make much sense, but that's what my ears are hearing anyway. I know that many Greeks love this stuff so any other help is welcome!

SHAKIN’ IT UP

A little ….. in the arena
Follow the young ones turn away
To feel (?) the bonds that we have between us
But why should we give a damn ‘bout what they have to say

‘Cause too many times that we’ve been lied to
And too many times that they change their names
They said they trust us, so we try to
……... and I do that as a …..
………again and I know I’ve only got myself to blame

Shakin’ it up
Gonna lock(?) the old foundation
Shakin’ it up
Gonna make a thunder sound
Shakin’ it up
We’re the younger generation
Shakin’ it up
Gonna bring wrong to the ground

A little ….. to the masses
Wind them up and watch them go
They’re pretty….. to do their asses
Different….

Too many truths …. politicians
Too many Caesars(?) in the game
They said believe me, believe me I’ll be a chance
……………and I do that as a …..
…….again and I know I’ve only got myself to blame

Shakin’ it up
Gonna lock the old foundation
Shakin’ it up
Gonna make a thunder sound
Shakin’ it up
We’re the younger generation
Shakin’ it up
Gonna bring wrong to the ground

Now the time is right to stand up
Take a look at us(?), black and white
If you’re tired of bullshit put your hand up YEAH
Show that man that you know wrong from right

Too many times that we’ve been lied to
And too many times that they change their names
They said they trust us, so we try to
……………and I do that as a …..
…….again and I know I’ve only got myself to blame

Shakin’ it up
Gonna lock the old foundation
Shakin’ it up
Gonna make a thunder sound
Shakin’ it up
We’re the younger generation
Shakin’ it up
Gonna bring wrong to the ground

SWEET CITY CHILD

Sweet city child in the night

Come on oh sweet city child
My body’s burning
……is like a rage, ……………..
Come on and quench my yearning
Bodies in the night, you hit the light
Come on and take me higher
‘Cause making love to you is all I wanna do
Come on and cool my desire

Sweet city child
You ease my pain
Sweet city child
I’m the desert and you’re the rain
Sweet city child
It’ll be alright
Oh sweet city child

Sweet city child in the night

Oh hey hey you sweet young thing
Ooh you’ll burn in fire
You got the moods to make me sweat
Lightning striking down on the liar
Bodies in the night, you hit the light
……and you can open the sky
Hey ………… come on
Oh you’re making me whole

Sweet city child
You ease my pain
Sweet city child
I’m the desert and you’re the rain
Sweet city child
It’ll be alright
Sweet city child
Oh city child

WHEN WILL THE MORNING COME

When you were lonely
You know that I heard the call
When you were ……
Didn’t I catch the fall
When you were lost and crying
Didn’t I find you a ….
Was it ………. saving you from your darkest fears

But now that things have changed
You’re now so goddamn deranged

When will the morning come
When we will see the light of day
When will the morning come
When you don’t turn and walk away from the things that you don’t want to see
The problems are hidden in me

When you were crazy
Didn’t I break through the walls
When you were reaching up darling
Didn’t I give you my heart

But now that things have changed
You’re now so goddamn deranged

When will the morning come
When you will see the light of day
When will the morning come
When you don’t turn and walk away from the things that you don’t want to see
The problems are hidden in me

When will it come
When will we see the light
When will it come
When will we see the light
Talking about the things that you don’t want to see
The problems are hidden in me

Never heard about this demo. As far as I knew Heir Apparent had split up even before One Small Voice was released and that was in 1989. How does it compare to OSV, which is a masterpiece in my opinion.

It's not very far from the sound of OSV, a bit more commercial in some parts, but a track like "When will the morning come" could have been easily put into OSV.
There's a bit of confusion as to the whether this demo is actually HEIR APPARENT or SWEET SISTER SAM, but after communicating with Kendall Bechtel (guitars on this demo and ex-FIFTH ANGEL) it was confirmed that this demo was recorded somewhere near the release of OSV and under the HEIR APPARENT monicker. The band toured from early to mid 90s as SWEET SISTER SAM and had more material in their arsenal which if it is in the same vein like this it would surely be utterly mindblowing. Kendall had promised me to send me a CDR with some of that stuff, but that unfortunately never happened. He seemed quite busy with his work at that time and I didn't want to sound very annoying pestering him for that damn CDR all the time..

OT: This band never really clicked with me aside from couple songs. Graceful Inheritance could be better with the second vocalist but I think the songwriting is seriously lacking some hooks here. One Small Voice in other hand has hooks. Lots of them. But it gets maybe a little too "light" for me although I enjoy some of it. Haven't heard their demos though. Maybe this one could work for me? I haven't completely wrote off the band yet. I think I have to give them another chance some time.

Yes I immediately knew there was an exciting challenge afoot when I saw this topic :D I have to walk my dog to the post to pick up what I think is the Max Plänck LP, then I can sit down and try to help out with this :)

'Graceful Inheritance' is an amazing LP, 'top 10' if you want to use terms like that. I realise the sound isn't very heavy, but if you pay attentipn to the actual riffs it IS heavy in the right way, the music has weight, a seriousness so many are lacking - one thing if anything that it is not lacking is good songs! They are expertly crafted, the lyrics are some of the BEST, and the solos soar and cement themselves in your mind. 'One Small Voice' has never been anywhere near as good to me, there are good songs and terrible ones...the keyboards don't work very well, it's more lightweight... If I feel like listening to HA I'll put on the first LP.

'Shakin' It Up'

Our leaders speak to the arena
While all the young ones turn away
Split up bonds that we have between us
But why should we give a damn what they have to say

There’s too many times that we’ve been lied to
And too many times that they’ve changed their names
They say to trust us and so we tried to
Fool me once and it’s you that has to change
Fool me again and I know I’ve only got myself to blame

(Chorus)
Shakin' it up
Gonna rock the old foundation
Shakin' it up
Gonna make a thunder sound
Shakin' it up
We're the younger generation
Shakin' it up
Gonna bring Rome to the ground
We're shakin it up

Our leaders speak unto the masses
Wind them up and watch them go
Their pretty voice talking through their asses
Different radios but still the same old show (?, hahaha)

Too many truthless politicians
Too many Caesars in the game
They said believe me, believe my visions
Fool me once and it’s you that has to change
Fool me again and I’ve only got myself to blame

(Chorus)

Now the time is right to stand up
Take a look past black and white
If you’re tired of bullshit put your hand up, Yeah!
Show that man that you know wrong from right

There’s too many times that we’ve been lied to
And too many times that they’ve changed their names
They say to trust us and so we tried to
Fool me once and it’s you that has to change
Fool me again and I know I’ve only got myself to blame

(Chorus)

Excellent! And the fact that you tried decyphering the lyrics although you don't like that stuff a lot is much appreciated, amigo!

I would never have found that "Fool me" part alone.

Sweet city child in the night

I think these songs sound good actually :)

And it wasn't MP in the post, but Magnit.

I know, it took me a while to get 'fool me', it's almost inaudible until you figure out it should be there.

'When Will The Morning Come'

When you were lonely
You know I heard the call
When you were hurting
Didn’t I catch the fall
When you were lost and crying
Didn’t I find you and dry all your tears
Was it ………. saving you from your darkest fears (something about game???)

But now that things have changed
You’re not so goddamn deranged

When will the morning come
When we will see the light of day
When will the morning come
When you don’t turn and walk away from the things that you don’t want to see
The problems are hidden in me

When you were crazy
Didn’t I break through the walls
When you were reaching up darling
Didn’t I give you my heart

But now that things have changed
You’re not so goddamn deranged

When will the morning come
When will we see the light of day
When will the morning come
When you don’t turn and walk away from the things that you don’t want to see
The problems are hidden in me

When will it come
When will we see the light
When will it come
When will we see the light
Talking about the things that you don’t want to see
The problems are hidden in me

Yeah, just like the way I figured "You ease my pain" on SSC. Perfect work, I would never have done all this myself no matter how much my english improved.

Thanks for the last one as well, it seems that it was the most succesfull out of the three tracks that I tried :)

‘Matter Over Mind’

Green fields into the grey now, I’m passing into the streets
Stars give to the city light, our will gives in to the hate
You know love is sold for money, power is bought with their lies
Everybody whores for the dollar bill, we numb the pain to help it survive

We want! Two gods for each ?
We want! …? scenery
We want! Everything but a beating heart
We want! Intellectual apathy

Matter over mind
Life is easy in dimensions of greed
So give us concrete jungle, nasty habits to feed
Absolute …?

---------------

Uh, REALLY hard one...

How 'bout these?

Two gods for each face
We want! Scented scenery
We want! Everything but a beating heart
We want! Intellectual atrophy
