The Corroseum forum (new design under construction)

I've been sorting out my tapes today, and came across this one. It's not an original, hey I'm not worthy, haha , it's a dub from a friend. I think this demo is actually pretty good, better than the full-length. The second track 'An Anguished Shape' has some cool riffs and vocals. Overal the vocals are actually better here than the LP. Also included the tracks from the 7", which aren't anything special.

If anyone has rips of later demos It'd be interesting to hear them, whether they got better since the LP.

Even if the band HAD said they don't want people to spread it, why should it matter? It is impossible to purchase their recordings, and they say it is due to financial issues that they do not distribute more copies(YEAH RIGHT! 25 copies of a tape), so that opens up another discussion of whether a band can, in this case quite obviously and specifically, DECIDE to be obscure and then TELL people to keep it that way. I think not, it's ridiculous. If they want to be so underground they can deal with that people in the underground share stuff. But what about other people's opinions?

Either way they're both sold out & out of print, so uploading them doesn't go against the rules

no they didnt of course but i think that stormspell mentioned something that digital stuff is not cool for them (must be the thread in the mod bin)

i think theyre not half bad but it didnt worked well for a full length , so boring.

I know the band has said they are against the spreading of their music as mp3's, instead they promote tape trading. Problem is people don't tape trade anymore. For about two years I have tried to get tape dubs from people I know have the recordings but no, it seems no one can be bothered to copy a tape anymore. I have "Achaean Invocation" and "Devotion" demos as tape dubs and they are both great recordings.

Still want to hear the rest, I will never get desperate enough to reach for mp3's though.

You download other MP3s, and this is is soooo different it's called being desperate? You sound like you're defending the band's stance as well.

No, I don't download other mp3's. I loathe mp3's.

i don't defend the band. I think they should sign to a label or somehow distribute their music much more widely, but there's nothing I can do about it.

I vaguely remember reading something about the band not being into the whole mp3-thing, but have they made any specific statement about their OOP recordings being spread like this? If that's the case I think it would be common courtesy to respect this. Tricky biz, the internets...

People are always saying 'the band said this and the band said that', yet they don't even reply to emails, why can't they actually speak for themselves. Or are they so underground they don't even go to work or shops, they just live in caves growing their own food.

Sorry Dan but I don't get why something someone heard the band had said should hold any value in this case, I mean why do they even release music??? If you write them asking for a dub or a copy or whatever they won't reply, they won't talk to the people who are interested in their music and would help them release it in larger quantities, they WANT it to be this restricted, but is that realistically something a musician releasing music can demand when they won't even respond to most people that try to communicate with them and get the music the old-fashioned way???

I enjoyed listening to this tape yesterday but now I've got worked up again with all the crap surrounding this band.

Have to repeat it, restricting the pressings of your music for no other reason than keeping it limited and then telling people what they can or cannot do with it is BULLSHIT*, which I'd expect to find in the damn black metal scene but not in real metal. (*we're only talking about letting other people actually hear stuff here, no money involved, public broadcasting etc.)

I had found an old post of theirs at the metalpage fourm where they were looking for some band members which should've been into Iron Hawk, Lord Ryur and other totally obscure only-for-the-true kvlt bands. That post on the internet must've been the most shameful moment in the history of the truest band in the history of music. It was certainly a good laugh, I think I had posted it here too.

ToM aside...
I'm thinking in general terms what do if a band has stated they don't want their recordings spread on the web - what the policy should be about this in this subforum? For starters a source of such a statement would be nice...
