You mean more punky Metal/Thrash as opposed to more traditional US Crossover? If BLACK VIRGIN qualifies they're the top of the crop.

In a way this is the strangest release of the label. Why? It's fucking brilliant. Tight and well-produced? No, but here all the rough edges and beauty-spots associated with an early ME-platter makes perfect sense. They do the VENOM / WARFARE / CARNIVORE thing based on a True Metal-foundation rather than Thrash and songs like "Night Riders", "Heavy Metal Mad" and "Hand Over Fist" fuckin destroy. Hell, they all do. Even the typical, over-simple design looks great on this the one and only ME-masterpiece.
I quite like MACE (us) as well. Mean & manic stuff! Both "Process Of Elimination" and "The Evil In Good" is great, punkish Speed Metal without sounding too much "core".
US MAYHEM's "Burned Alive" is another must-buy. Really underrated, dirty but well-made Speed with a punk vibe. And THE BEAST from NJ! And... lots more.

There are still few good THRASH hardcore/PUNK metal bands around and with zero trendy "metalcore" tendencies. Also, not in the vein of old US crossover thing, but something different.
FORCA MACABRA from Finland is amongst my favorites there.
If about something like thrash with easygoing kind of punk, then BLUDWULF for me.

There's already this topic discussing the subject. Just move over there and continue the discussion

That thread is more about traditional crossover from the HC end of things as I understand it. Let's leave this one open for a while since it seems to be about a slightly different sort of bands. I think.

The first MANIMALS-EP totally slays, very brutal and dark and ultra-aggressive. Still the best punk-thrash-bastard in my books.
BLOOD IS THE HARVEST!!

Well, I had locked it because some of the bands were already mentioned in the other thread and all of the band mentioned would be on topic in the crossover thread. I really fail to see the difference but I guess that comes with the territory with a term so ambiguous like "crossover"

That GASTUNK album is one of the best of Japan ever, I rank it even higher than stuff like Sabbrabells and Loudness, maybe even GISM... !?!

I couldn't agree more. I put in my top 50 1980's albums list I posted here a few months ago. A real crusher.
