What were the best magazines that wrote about thrash, speed etc in the 80's? I've heard that good ones were Power Metal from North America, Thrash Metal from US, a lot of old bands give thanks to british Metal Forces...

Better check old fanzines if you're looking for the real stuff....

Agree, there were tons of fanzines dedicated to speed and thrash in those days but no magazines, they were mostly dealing with classic heavy metal and hard-rock.

Metal Forces was the best UK mag

There were six issues of "Thrash N Burn" mag in the early 90's but it leant more towards Death Metal as that was when it was exploding.

"Decibel of Death" for example.

Metal Forces really needs special credits though. Probably the largest mag (zine in the early days) from Europe who covered the birth of Thrash Metal with passion - more so than for instance Metal Hammer or Kerrang. Most 80's issues are must-buys.

Yeah but there were not many zines who wrote about Acrid, Evoked Doom, Deathchamber etc etc. To each its own but I prefer stuff like that!

Phil (ex-MUTILATED/ABYSSALS, ACT OF GODS) had xeroxed 9 issues of DOD to me, and I must say that this zine looked like a goldmine at the time, especially when you know it was coming from France, which was and still is a third world country when it comes to real metal.

Though the few maniacs you can find in this country are some of the best die-hards I know!

"DOD" was a great zine for sure. There was another cool zine run by a guy from Switzerland back in thosedays , it was full of speed/thrash but I can't remember the name ...

No, Laurent who did Peardrop is Laurent Merle. He's now running the label Listenable records.

and before Peardrop, Laurent Merle had another zine named U.S.D. (ultimate Speedcore Dislocation if my memories are good).
