The Corroseum forum (new design under construction)

Here's where we list cool shit that made the 80's Metal scene unique and gave it some extra spice & flavour - stuff that seem impossible to recreate even by the most in-the-know retro/old-school band of today. No detail or anectdote is too small.

Like for instance a REAL (i.e. not pöseur wïmps) band calling themselves GYPSY ROSE (?!) - and doing a demo called "Evil Metal" (!?!) - and not sucking AT ALL in the process.

Haha I was/am still amused about the fact they call themselfs GYPSY ROSE but the song titles and some kind of metallic hunch (which is topic on it's own) told me their music must be real heavy metal thus I wanted to hear that demo for a long time You should check out Velle Witch soon if you haven't!

How about "token" rock'n'roll songs? Just about every second album back then used to have them - these very plain, generic rockers that more often than not were the weakest song on the album, but still... At least it provided some variety and a feeling of how you just couldn't know what the next song on the album would sound like.

Personal fave: "That's Rock'n'Roll" from the ACCEPT debut.
