I must say I'm disppointed byt the new METALUCIFER effort, be it the german or the japanes version. Fundamentaly the riffs and song structure lack big ime the dynamic and freshness one could find on their previous records. I don't say it's pure crap, 'cos it still has some enjoyable moments, but overally I don't get the grip as much as when listening to the 2 first albums.
What do you people think of this new album?

I have basicly same feelings about it. Final pinch of salt&pepper is missing from the soup.
I haven't heard the japanese version, is it better than german?

The german version being sung by Blumi sounds pretty much like your usual heavy metal band from the 80's.
The japanese version gives you the unique vocal style of Mister Gezol, which is also a big trademark for the group, but even with him on vocals, I fear that the overall punch is lacking.
If you're interested I have the japanese version on cd I sell it for 10 euros (postage included)
and I have the german version on lp. I sell it for 12 euros (postage included)

yeah, postage included worldwide.
I'm not here to steal other metalheads you know, and I don't enjoy this album so much, so it's almost like I give it away for free! haha!
There's no use to have a record sleeping in my collection, it's better than someone else who enjoys it can afford it, you know.

To be honest this sums up my overall impression of the band since Day-1. I "get" and respect their sound & attitude, but the-oh-so-cvlt-Sabbat-connection-cred aside there's just so many better, more talented post-80's bands out there..

I still can't understand the idea of another, GEZOL-less Metalucifer (it's like Motorhead without Lemmy for me), but so far I heard only the Japanese vocals & lyrics version and it sounds like the first Metalucifer album I didn't like. But since Blumi is a killer singer, I'll have to check the German version out indeed.

Indeed Blumi does a good job, but I enjoyed more to see and hear him with METAL INQUISITOR last time the band played at KIT. Plus the cover of "trial by fire" with Brian Ross!!! AAAAAAAARGH!!!! yeah!

It's really the front covers more than anything...I was completely suckered in by the "teutonic attack" version just based on its superior front cover. MY LAWD! It's good but I reserve full judgement until I have my freshly squeezed Nipponese language-spec edition in my hands and ears...complete with Gezolucification.

for anyone who hasn't heard the german version, bear in mind that it's overall a bit faster and has some different arrangements compared to the other 2
