that shitmageddon forum has gone over the edge asking for paypal donations in order to allow people to see the download links, what a bunch of nucking funts
Edit: Since Thrashmageddon changed their policy and are acknowledging and willing to work with small labels, my problem has been solved and I retract my statement.

Way to go Thrashmageddon, and special thanks to the_real_mordred and centricon for helping me out solving this.

Wow that site looks horrible! What a bunch of poseurs. I just took a look at it and I saw "In: Thrashmageddon Rulez By: Futuresynner" these thrash kiddy pussies with their clubs and release groups, blogs etc all think they're so holy for uploading music that's still available for sale, of bands still around they are ripping off and yet they have rules too?! What rules could they possibly have in this operation...

I'm curious as to what it says?!, lets take a look at this hypocritical wank (if anyone has an account) Start getting their home addresses, supply them to the bands and small labels I say.

OH, COME ON! I don't support this, but, do u think that a really and true devoted fan-supporter could JUST download the music and stay there?? NO WAY! If someone would desire to purchase some band's work he/she would do it by all means, on the other hand if someone wants to have just the easy solution cause he/she wouldn't want to spend money on some "new release" he would just steal it, from t-mag, or some other fuckin torrent, and we all know that they are plenty of them in the net...

We had something similar to this a few years ago... We made a DC++ hub aimed at trading GOOD rips of rare shit. A few of us were sharing our personal rips, at 320 kbps. Then we found out that of the 120 people that went there, only 10 or so were actually providing the stuff. The rest were ONLY leeching (and we even found out that most of them blocked their slots!). So we closed it down, and made a private hub only for the serious collectors. Funny that a few of them are on this board!
Well, things were going smooth, but as with everything, stuff started to leak to the outside. Then we found out that "ripping crews" were renaming our rips in order to be "famous". But even worse... Bootleg CD's started to be put on sale with some of the good quality rips we had made (I even remember listening to the TARANTULA bootleg CD and hearing the exact same thing I had ripped, with the same sound, everything!). So, eventually... We closed everything down.
Thrashmageddon was made by a couple of guys that used to go to that hub. Benhurska is one of them. I consider him to be a good guy! But I think that forum is starting to go way overboard! And their rules of "uploads" and "elitism" are such a stupidity... Especially considering that most of the admins and mods there must have a huge collection of... mp3's and nothing else...

Yeah, I'm still using it because I can get a lot of stuff otherwise I couldn't get from here. Of course I buy original whenever I have the chance to do it, but these guys force you to upload new stuff in order to be able to access the older, out of print material. Really. It should be the other way around. Old material that doesn't pay copyrights anymore 'cause the band is split, there's no repressing and the material is out of print (which means that not even buying original the bands get a cent), that kind of material should be available for all users and the access to newer stuff should be more restricted to avoid leeching and screwing bands who are trying to sell their stuff and keep the band going. Plus once I noticed they leeched some files from goodbadmusic. It was a very rare demo from Dead (Us), so I said that at least what they should do is credit the original ripper and post a link to the site. In return they got mad at me. I don't feel like uploading anymore stuff there, at least for a while.

I was also skeptical about the move to ask for money or 30 (?!) uploads to them to have download privileges. I can't say thrashmageddon is very much use for me now because I usually downloaded from there items for which I might have some slight curiosity or historical appreciation, very rarely things that I'd keep for real (if I really like it I'll try to buy it and I like very few things). This is to say, I deleted 98% of the things I got from thrashmageddon, so if I can't effectively 'browse' anymore, then I certainly am not going to pay money to be able to do so. They're just hurting my faux "Heavy Metal Historian" habit more than anything else, heh.

Nuno, the volumenbrutal hub was a whole different story to thrashmageddon, but yeah everything we ever shared or got on dc++,uploaded on miskatonik,on this forum, etc is now on thrashmageddon, and for what? so that idiot Kuntkult aggressively asks for money? fuck that,i still have dc++ and i can honestly tell to Iordan that all his releases are there by a release group called NHH and that's probably where those idiots are getting them from.at least noone on dc++ ever asked for money!these cunts should be told to fuck off and urgently so.
I feel honest people like doomedplanet or futuresynner should stop uploading there and giving these idiots further incentive to leech real cash off people for what? mp3s? and i got a friend who donated and then they deleted him anyway saying he should thank them!
fuck them a mil times over
thank god i never uploaded the mp3s i was asked to upload there, like the real (full) adramelch demo etc i ld be regretting it like a bitch now

I haven't used that shitty site since a few months before they introduced their "new rules"...

95% of that forum is full of poser, nu-metal faggots that worship metallica's new album anyways.

Just look at the sub-forums they have there for glam/nu-metal crap...

And how the fuck can you justify selling MP3's that you don't own the copyright to the music/didn't rip yourself or even own an original hard copy of? This is essentially what they are doing there with now requiring you to pay to access the files.

I hope the dude that runs that site gets a lawsuit slammed in his face.

Of course it was! That's what pissed me more when I saw the kind of approach most of (I'd say 95%) the mods and admins had in Thrashmageddon!
We always shared for the fun of giving rare, unusual music to other die-hards who in return did the same. We transformed the once-public hub into a private one, so that leeching would stop. We had quite a few "skeptic" old time collectors contributing to the common cause. We even had enthusiastic discussions through the chat window amongst ourselves. It was a real community. And what I see in this Thrashmageddon site is a ton of leechers, enriching their mp3 collections so they can say in other places how cool they are for having this and that. I don't have anything against people who have mp3's of stuff they can't afford or can't find. I myself happen to have quite a few of those! I would NEVER pay 1000$ for a PARADOXX EP, or 300$ for a MEDIEVAL STEEL, or whatever! And sometimes I even download mp3's of new albums to check out if I like it or not. The difference is:
1) regarding the old "out-of-print" releases: I actually know the story of most of them. I have fanzines of that period which I read and re-read 1000 times that review most of that stuff and always made me curious to listen to it. Hell, 90% of the time I REALLY know what I'm getting and why I'm getting it. And the remaining 10% is because someone like me advised me to get it (But I still refuse to pay 100$ or more for a release.. Seeing as the money is never going to end in the artist pocket and even if it did...)
2) regarding the new releases, when I like something I downloaded, I buy it. Simple as that.

Good posts. I have to say for the past year or so I've been really nervous about uploading anything (even here) because of these types of sites. Who knows who's lurking. Its really now put me off uploading anything at all, for example barely any comments a few years back on Miskatonic and now one of my rips of a good band previously unknown to the internet somehow has made its way onto shitmageddon for those filthy scavengers. I have some nice stuff I want to share with decent people, but if its ending up there, forget it.

Haha, i think someone is spying the corroseum. TM decided that every 2009 release shouldn't be posted until 2011. The comments are yours...
