SHADOW KINGDOM RECORDS unearths
80s heavy/doom demos from ASYLUM

SHADOW KINGDOM RECORDS has unearthed and will release the demo tapes from ASYLUM, titled 'The Earth Is The Insane Asylum Of The Universe,' one of the many underground gems that made up the legendary doom metal scene of Maryland in the 1980s.

A posting on the official record label's website about the release reads: "The legendary Maryland Doom Metal scene was and still is filled with monster bands! ASYLUM (who later changed their name to UNORTHODOX at their old record label's request) is yet another underground gem, never officially released. With only copies of this tape being spread (known as the 1985 Demo) around in trading circles since the time of its recording, this was one of the harder demos to find.

Now for the first time in 23 years, this recording is officially being released. What a treat this is for 80’s metal fans too because what most people don’t know is that Dale Flood (guitarist/vocalist) is an absolute magician on the axe. His style derives from Progressive 70’s Rock like RUSH, YES, DEEP PURPLE, etc mixed with the thunderous and mighty Doom/Heavy riffs from likes of PENTAGRAM, BLACK SABBATH, MOTORHEAD, etc. This is all played together with an amazing rhythm section featuring of the most underrated drummers in heavy metal: Ronnie Kalimon. This album has its own mark and sound in the underground and believe me this is no carbon copy of any other band; their unique sound speaks for itself and stands alone! The amazing thing about this recording is that is sounds fresh and new even though its 23 years old.

If you love 70’s Heavy Rock, 80’s Heavy Metal and Doom, you won’t believe your ears! This is the very first ASYLUM demo released with all its flaws from low budget recording and if you like this, there’s plenty more in the ASYLUM vault to be released in the future."

Any chance there will be some tunes to preview via myspace or another site? It's a promising description, but I've never heard anything by them

If you like the songs (from the album Asylum), you'll love Asylum.

Slight delay... should be here next FRIDAY...

Here's the new official tracklisting. Originally there was 8 songs (they're still all there, the last song is a combined 2 songs), but I was so damn confused and so was the band because when it was recorded, nothing was tracked.

So to avoid anymore confusion
Track 3 and 4 are related, but sound completely different.
Track 4 is just an instrumental.
Track 5 is the same song, just that they have 2 names for it.
Track 7 is actually 2 seperate songs designed to flow together.

1. Asylum
2. Motherless
3. Moment Of Truth
4. Moment Of Truth II
5. Bell Witch (Red Skull)
6. Burn
7. Dying Breed / Distand Friend
