Haha, well hopefully it has the old coverart on the backside so that you are able to flip over the booklet and re-live 1985.
Either way, I've been looking forward to this for some time now.

Yes, relax, it will have the ole generic LP cover on the back in all its overexposed yellowish pixelated glory for die-hard fans to flip-over and enjoy

You havent seen this one before noplace coz it was just drawn by Andrew Dobell.GJ wrote:Aaaaaarrgh! The original cover was much cooler. Where have I seen this one before?
Steeler's Rage - Undercover Reign of the Fearful Animals perhaps?
STEELER - Undercover Animal has a similar appearance, but theirs is a werewolf. I dont claim we invented the wheel with this artwork, it is just a portrait of a vampire after all.
You like the old one, eh? In this case here are two points to consider:
1. Do you happen to have the original art files then? Coz Marek and Garratoni not only recycled the mastertapes re-recording new albums over, but they also thrashed all artfiles. Meanwhile I lost my magic wand someplace and have problems conjuring the original art from thin air, can you help?

2. This is my release and my money, and I like the new art way better than the old. And it is not that I havent spent days trying to improve and use the old one, mind you.
3. Last but not least: it is a dual cover booklet, the crappy LP cover will be included on the back side, so all you have to do is flip it over and have the original cover displayed. Just like the Sentinel Steel re-releases. Is it so hard to flip-over a booklet so you have to complain so vigorously about it? Tell you what, if you ever order the CD, just let me know and I'll personally flip the booklet for you. I can even black-out the new cover with permanent marker or glue something over it, so you dont have to see it ever again

So there you go, I cannot please everyone so I'm going to keep it simple and please myself first and foremost. If you dont like it - Andi Preisig is available and I'm sure he will be more than happy to resell you a license once mine expires. Than you can do it better.

Stormspell: Sorry if I seem to have tried to put your work down. This was not my intention. My post was more of a gut reaction kind - seeing the original "art"-work being replaced by one that just didn't click with me immediately. I very much support (and applaude) the work that you and others put into releasing stuff like this. Again, I am sorry for my somewhat immature and not very constructive (or fun - your answer was btw) post.
As for having the original art, I do have the LP. But no facilities to scan it properly if that's what you meant.

Nope. By original art I mean the original positive/negative film the LP cover was made from.GJ wrote:As for having the original art, I do have the LP. But no facilities to scan it properly if that's what you meant.
The vinyl sleeve is a bad quality print itself. If you take a good look at it, you will notice the picture is underexposed, the color ballance is shifted, the picture is blurry, the midtones are flat, no black point in the shadows, and the contrast is lacking severely. So no matter how you scan and manipulate afterwards - it just looks crap. I hunted down and bought 3 different LPs so I'm fairly sure the entire pressing was crappy.

The "smear" effect is on the vinyl logo too. I thought of removing it, but then decided to leave it as it is.Nightlock wrote:The logo looks really nice with the smir I think, Any chance of saving a Fatal Violence diehard until this is released?
My apologies, but I cannot keep track of reservations at the moment. I'm doing too many things at once: 3 releases almost ready to be sent to pressing plant, my e-mail is total mess with pending orders/trade offers/ etc., I'm behind on packing and dispatching paid orders as always, and on top on that we got a deadline at work approaching with means extra work hours on the horizont... I just cannot keep track of reservations right now, sorry.

Gah that's it! I had a mental blank this morning I was thinking "smir" no that doesn't look right, "smire" that doesn't either. Always been an album I've been waiting to get really cheap, so I don't have the original vinyl. I like your graphic enough anyway.
No problem, how fast are the Fatel Violence going out your door at the moment? Might have to pay two sets of shipping charges which will suck but oh well...

I'm down to about #60 of the die-hards, so there are still 190 left.

That's great - I prefer the original cover too. And this has been on my wantlist for a few years, so many cheers Stormspell for releasing it (I just want the music on a good release, I don't necessarily want original LPs).Avenger wrote:Awesome.stormspell wrote:Yes, relax, it will have the ole generic LP cover on the back in all its overexposed yellowish pixelated glory for die-hard fans to flip-over and enjoy

A happy news for yer oldschool artwork lovers. The original art from 1985 promo poster has been unearthed:

...now I have 3 artworks and only two sides on a booklet to post it, so one need to go, but which one...

Just put that one into one of the inside pages of the booklet.stormspell wrote:A happy news for yer oldschool artwork lovers. The original art from 1985 promo poster has been unearthed:

That way if someone REALLY wanted to use it they could still flip the booklet inside-out.
