So what are some of the better albums in thrash that have a huge metallica influences? I don't want any hints of darkness/evilness in the vocals or the riffs. I want something tough, but melodic. Albums similar to inferior to none, fatal array, and mean less propaganda. thanks

Well there's a whole ocean of late 80's/early 90's bay area bands or bay area style bands that played melodic thrash with clean vocals and various amount of Metallica influence... Most of them mediocre, but some good. I'd recommend "Nothing's Sacred" by Lääz Rockit.

Hm, "Collision Course" by Paradox could come out of Master of Puppets, only it has tighter musicianship.

I much prefer their first LP with large doses of teutonic speed influence. But a great recommendation for Metallica styled styled stuff also check out Heretic and their new album.

The japanese Outrage. Their selftitled ep sounds so much like Metallica it cracks me up :D

Have not heard it years (though I do own it) but I recall the HELLHOUND Ice Age cd re-issue that High Vaultage put out a long time ago being pretty vintage METALLICA influenced.

I've barely heard any bands that sound like Metallica. I can't even remember reading many reviews of bands that got compared to them. The only ones I can think of are Heathen and Znowhite.

Meshuggah's debut Contradictions Collapse maybe ? also Heathen's Victims Of Deception in terms of complex "Justice For All"-riffing and atmosphere. Awesome record (the Heathen one).

Yeah, first Meshuggah. Maybe second Onslaught? Neither of these albums is very good though.

I remember seeing a British band called D.A.M. supporting DARK ANGEL & NUCLEAR ASSAULT many years ago, although i never heard their album they were certainly very Metallica-esque live.
If memory serves, TORANAGA's "Bastard Ballads" was also cut from the same cloth, although i haven't heard it for decades.

Oops/ What I actually wanted to know was what were the best bay-area thrash albums from bands outside the bay.

The obvious answer here is Paradox's Heresy album wich is heavily influenced by Metallica.

The second album of Onslaught "The Force"is a legendary piece of A class Thrash Metal but in don't here any Metallica in there(i think so)
