So how long have Metal logos existed?
Which were the first bands to use them?
Are they important for Metal?
And which are YOUR favorites?

I might be wrong but two of the first band using a particular logo is JUDAS PRIEST and KISS. JUDAS use the same logo since the "Stained Class" album in 1978 and KISS always had the "double S" logo.
I really dig the logos of some 80's band (VENOM, RAVEN, ....).
My fave logos are the SLAYER and MORBID ANGEL ones.
Nowadays, this logo shit is pretty ridiculous, with all those black metal bands abusing of unreadable logos !

e.g. I like medieval fonts "logos", preferbly in red or white. For example. medieval (us), rainbow, black hole, bulldozer, burzum (old one) , pagan altar, ...
Venom + Bloodlust logo (if that 7" title doesnt look badass as hell then i dont know which one does)
Sarcofago...old one
Omen...Battle Cry Version (with that snake)
Death SS (old one of course)
Aion (jpn) = ep version (looks like footwear logo but still love it) & Mein Kampf
korrozia metalla (kreator ripoff but like it) / DIV EP Version (belongs more to medieval fonts above though)
abruptum looks great
Shub Niggurath
Profanatica, demo version and that more colorful one with the roses but wasnt used so far, unfortunately.
nastrond
Ones I dont like at all for example:
Incantation
Darkthrone (looks like frosty snot on the ground)
Parabellum (good idea but still looks like some paper pieces)
well and much more on both lists...

Everything pales in comparison to the classic VOIVOD-logo (roar, killing tech)
There, just thinking about it made my mind go blank. Will come up with 2nds and elaborate in a few hours...

That's the Teutonic font.
I like a lot of symmetrical thrash and death logos, like the Dismember one or Dark Angel one.

There's way too many to mention. Pungent Stench now comes to mind, I really like the Autopsy logo too.
