Tom Gabriel leaves Celtic Frost??

TOM GABRIEL FISCHER Quits CELTIC FROST - Apr. 9, 2008

Swiss avant-garde/metal pioneers CELTIC FROST have released the following statement via their official web site:
"CELTIC FROST singer and guitarist Tom Gabriel Fischer has left CELTIC FROST due to the irresolvable, severe erosion of the personal basis so urgently required to collaborate within a band so unique, volatile, and ambitious."
It was reported earlier in the year that CELTIC FROST was putting together an album tentatively titled "Monotheist Companion" that will feature unreleased songs from 2006's "Monotheist" sessions and rearrangements of tracks from the album. The disc is tentatively due in the summer.

I've just read this very sad news on Blabbermouth. That means the second end of CELTIC FROST.

I think Monotheist was one of the worst albums I've ever heard, so since I wasn't too happy with this comeback, I can't say I'm sad about these news.

I actually though Monotheist was an incredible comeback; I ate a lot of crow because I initially thought a CF reunion was a bad idea.
I'm surprised that the statement implies Tom is leaving the band; I would have thought he owned all the copyrights to the CF name and wouldn't relinquish control of the rights to the other members. Guess we'll see how it plays out.
Oh well, I saw 'em live twice in the past year and a half and they were good both times, especially on halloween night '06; killer show!

Uh. that's sad news. I regard Monotheist a masterpiece. Warrior LEAVING CF is indeed a strange formulation, as anyone would presume the band would carry on with another singer.. great even me grabbed the chance to see them live last year, I usually tend to miss such things..
hey, bet they're gonna reform HELLHAMMER soon, right?

Really, really sad news. I´m glad I had the opportunity to witness CF twice while the reunion lasted.

I doubt that would lead to anything above par.

Celtic Frost should've quit after their debut, so I don't really care it's over.

I actually believe that Monotheist is the quintessential Celtic Frost album and definitely one of the best heavy metal albums of the '00s. However, Warrior leaving CF doesn't bother me at all, since I cannot see how they could top that album and I don't really need another Monotheist.

He will reform Hellhammer. This will be so "Tom Gabriel Fischer", he won't be able to resist. :)

Monotheist was such a disappointment for me, so I couldn't care either way.

& let's not forget 'Cold Lake' kids!

I'm just happy I got to see them two times before it was over again. Their gig at Sweden Rock Festival june 2006 is one of the best I have ever attended. Monotheist wasn't bad. I think it recaptured the spiritual essence of old Celtic Frost and moved it forward. CF was always about moving forward anyway. CF could never be a retro band trying to copy Mega Therion just to please the masses. That would have been against everything the band ever stood for.

Hasn't he 2-3 black metal projects going already...?
Only semi-liked some 50% of the "Monotheist" material and got to see Celtic Frost three times, so I'm not crying.
But that Sweden Rock gig sure was rather fantastic.
