WHITE BOY AND THE AVERAGE RAT BAND (US) - S/T LP 1980

On Tradewind Records. All tracks written by Mike Matney (one man band?). Here's how their myspace site describes their sound:
Motorhead licking the leftover DMT off of Black Sabbath's "SYPMTOM OF THE UNIVERSE" for half an hour with an acoustic interlude which was merely a device so the band could reach over and finish those pints of strychnine and dodo-bird blood.

Oh wow, great post Ion! I heard some songs by these guys awhile back and thought they were pretty interesting! I remember dealer John Allinson used to hype these guys a lot. Last copy of the album i saw sold for several hundred doillars (US)

unfortunately NOT a real myspace account.
From the looks of it not even someone who owns the LP. Just a fan of the music

John lived on the same street as White Boy and help with the release of this LP. (YES a 1 man band)

When it was released the only place you could purchase copies was from John or Zig Zag Records in NY as they dealt with John all the time and took some on Consignment

GREAT RECORD!

Thanks very much for the post Ion, looking forward to hearing this one, have heard good things about it which make me suspect it'll be right up my street.

Thanks for the info glock! I knew the 'band' was from John's area, but i didn't realize he was that closely involved w/ 'em. By the time I was buying from John all the copies were long gone; I think I remember him having one copy on his list for $90 around '93

Oh! Thanks for the heads-up! Is the boot easy to tell apart from an original? I might pick it up if it's a nice boot to help hold me over until I can get an original. Think I've placed third on the last two ebay'ed copies

Thanx alot, omen! I really dug this of course, esp the crazy guitar tone. The vocals were a bit sour on a few cuts but as a whole this is great US "crossover" right up there with IMPECCABLE, JOE STEP etc...

Checking the going price on popsike made my heart sink though - for the time being I think I'll settle for that bootleg too...

Yeah, I always fall for the expensive ones :(
