So I recentlly ordered 2 albums. They arrived Monday, but when I opened the box it turns out they're in much worse condition than was advertised. Both were supposed to be Ex/Ex, but one cover has small brown stains all over it (looks like someone dribbled Coke all over it) and the other has a huge sticker tear plus 3 severely creased corners! FUCK! I emailed the dealer and he says he'll give me a full refund for them.... we'll see how it plays out. Definitely not happy; I'm not a 'mint freak' but those covers should've been graded vg- at best (one had no pic available, the other had a pic but apparently it's a stock photo); in that condition they were worth a fraction of what I paid. I've bought from this dealer before and never had problems... still can't believe the covers were graded Ex with that much damage Back on the wantlist they go

That's indeed very irritating. I had this a couple of times also. I once received a completely scratched Bathory LP in the mail (graded ex); the surface noise was louder then the music.

Yeah this happens from time to time. The one's I hate is when the disc has terrible warping or skips. Very annoying, I once got a cut-out LP and left the guy neutral feedback saying he never mentioned it in the sale. He of course left neutral feedback in spite back & several e-mails arguing that I should be happy enough to have received the LP at a cheap price and I should of expected that. Apparently no serious record collectors care about cutouts and he doesn't have to list them. What a prick.

O yeah , that happened to me once in a while. Actually I still waiting for my refund from two singles, from different sellers. one of the singles was warped affecting the music on side 2, the other one was shipped out in a thin chipboard envelope without any other protection, so the single arrived very cracked!!! I dont know, how they expect it to arrive fine ,without any protection.

Both of these played fine, but the covers were seriously messed up. A real shame, as I wanted 'em both, but no way were they worth what I paid given their condition I shipped 'em back today.

What were the records? And did you pay for the shipping yourself? I hate that buyers usually have to do that.

Records were Storyteller- Mystery Girl 7" w/ ps and v/a-Southern Comfort vol 1 (nwobhm local sampler).

I think that same stories happened to every trader/buyer.In my case it was DAMIEN (Swe) - Requiem for the Dead MLP. I've got this one with TOTALY damaged cover.Do not know what happened since never seller did not answered to my letters.

I bought an unplayed Master's Hammer- Ritual LP.
I'm quite sure when the item was shipped, both sleeve and record were in mint condition.

But that idiot of a seller shipped and packed it in a brown envelope. In german he mentioned 'breakable', but overestimated the translating skills of belgian postmen.
So my mint lp is now only a vg sleeve with a bent record.

Once I recieved a flexi in bubblewrap from Italy. It was bended and creased as fuck. How could one so dump to believe it would be fine without at least one cardboard in it.
I recieved a bunch of old Malayan Radio LPs which looked mint in photos and first sight in real, but turned out full of brown dirt which was seen only at a special light ankle from 75°. Cleaned it all with soap and water, but had to play and clean the needle at least 5 times each side to remove the dirt from the grooves. I was a hell of an action. Now all the scratches on the vinyls are visuable. There are even "X"'s scratched in some songs of one LP !!!, I think it is meant to mark the best songs for promotion on this record. The scratches are plenty, however they play OK but definately no "EX+"...

The weirdest experience I had was with a copy of Oz's 'turn the cross upside down' EP. I saw an ebay auction for it (probably 10 years ago) that mentioned the album was slightly warped but didn't affect play. I really wanted it and managed to get it quite cheap ($8). I paid right away, and the album neve came. I finally emailed the guy to ask about my order. He wrote back and apologized; apparently he was worried I was gonna get pissed about the warp and leave him negative feedback, even though he had clearly explained the warp in the item listing, so he tried fixing the record in some kind of steam press. It did flatten the record... in fact, it flattened the grooves right off it to the point that the needle just slid across the surface! He returned my money, including the shipping cost and sent me the ruined record, which has decorrated my wall ever since. The story ends happily this past Monday when I received a very nice copy in the mail. I'll never really underdstand why he tried to 'fix' the record

Years ago I tracked down the singer of the NWOBHM band Renegade. I was quite happy to get a copy of both the single and Kent Rocks from him. But when they arrived, both records were severely scratched, and the cover for Kent Rocks has a huge coffee spill on it

The strangest story involves a very rare record that I wanted. I used to live close to a certain record dealer, and would occassionally spend a day at his place listening to tunes. He had a copy of this record in his personal collection, but in bad shape. The cover was falling apart and the record had lots of scratches on it. Months later he calls me up and says he's got a copy in mint condition for me. So I send him the money. When I get the record it turns out to be the same copy he showed me! Not even close to being mint. He of course denied everything and made up some story. I never got my money back and pretty much stopped collecting vinyl after that.
