I think my favorite guitar sound is that fucked up echoing sound of stuff like THE MEZMERIST, and anything that gives off a weird, mysterious atmosphere like that (Coven, Black Hole, and even Dwarr to a smaller degree). However, the first thing that came to mind after I read the first post of this topic is the guitar sound on "Hells Fire" (Mistreater), especially during the soloing.
I also have to agree with what was said about early SABBATH. Iomi's guitar sound on the first 3 albums was so great, especially on the Self-Titled album.

I like the guitar sound in Coven's masterpiece "Worship New Gods", it's damn creepy
I also adore the guitar sound on Celtic Frost "Morbid Tales". When you crank the volume, the ceiling comes down, it's HEAVY!!!!
The guitar sound on many Manilla Road albums sound really demonic and haunting
+ lots of others
