Damn! This is.. GREAT!?!

A friend stumbled upon these Swedish youngsters on MySpace and tipped me off. Seems like I owe him one!
So this band has 2 major issues working against them:
1. A crappy name - HELLEVATOR (sounds like some lame, trendy "action rock" act)
2. More than a few 'suspect' bands on their friends-list at their MySpace site
..but when listening to their music I really don't give a fuck. In some weird way they become even more fascinating when you consider that this is
not another in-the-know, cult-Metal-worshipping act aiming to please. The brilliant songs speak for themselves. Musically HELLEVATOR sound like an old Swedish demo/mixed-comp act w/ a hefty SLOUGH FEG fetish.

edit: "Witch Doctor" could very well be the best Swedish Metal song I've heard since HELVETETS PORT's "Hårdrockens Förkämpe".

This is indeed great stuff. I like the song "Deadly Deliverance" very much, hell, all songs rule. Does someone know how to order that demo? It seems they don't have a homepage, besides this myspace.

I really like the 'soft' guitar distortion, and generally these dudes sound much trve-er than they look. I can't believe a band named Hellevator is any good. Gosh, if I could force them to change their name.
Proto-heavy metal in 2007, hah!

Just got back an answer concerning the demo: it's not all wrapped up yet but should be ready in a couple of weeks. I'll post details as soon as I get them..

I've given them first spin. Decent Maiden praise for the most of time. Witch Doctor is a highlight.

Are you sure they're not trying to be a Hellacopters/Gluecifer/Hives type rock band that are accidently sounding 'true'!???
Some of the live photo poses on their myspace look like the typical Scandy rock act.
But it's promising with repeated listens...

This is Rob from Hellevator, and I'm pretty fucking stoked over the fact that you like our music!
We haven't been around long, the current line-up is barely a year old.
As you might have heard, we play oldschool, very guitaroriented heavy metal, and our humble goal is world domination.
Our first demo, "Witchdemo?" (pun intended) is printed and done, but we have a couple of things to take care of first. We need to get ourselves a proper credit card, so that we can get a Paypal account.
Today we started a bank account, and we'll try to get the Paypal thing done ASAP.

You need a credit card as back up only when sending funds. But to receive funds you only need a bank account!
