Is that Arkeyn Steel release, Cyperus compilation cd called "Blow It Out Your Ass" legit? No offence, I've never bought any of their releases yet and I just need to know before I buy.

I think the band itself has answered your question.

Oh didn't know they had myspace, thanks. I guess Arkeyn Steel is a honorable label then.

Yes, it's an honest label. As far as I know, all their releases are legit.

There is no dilemma. GO FOR THE FILTHY NAUGHTY BOOTLEG.

Having the bootleg is a good luck charm, until the original genuine article, makes its way to you. Then the bootleg becomes a "beater" copy prolonging the life of your original copy.

Situation is a win-win-win. I support bootlegging especially when the band, labels and distros are a sleep at the wheel, concerning heavy metal classics, and items people actually care about.

There was this one CD called Angel Dust "Into the Dark Past". I could never obtain it. And seeing people buying it for 3oo usd. Then one day its cost went down to 13usd, so I got two of them. I did a matrix check with a penpal in Japan. And he said it is a bootleg. I dont feel bad, because if it was but back in cirrculation even as a cassette. I would get the re-edition, at all cost.

We were so missing a boot of Tension ! (thanks for the heads up to my friend Vicrattlehead)
This compilation was officially released on Metalgrind Productions back in 1997. About an year ago the label owner started listing copies on eBay - one at a time. He was able to gouge $80-100 per copy for awhile, until people figured he still has tons in stock. Now that the eBay sales are down to regular prices, I bet he wholesaled/traded copies to No Remorse.
There are two different cd's. On one the whole surface of the cd is coloured in white and the other has non coloured inner circle.

I don't know if the white one is legit? Does the repress exist?

Someone must inform this seller (or at least his potential customers) that the Barricade version of "Ample Destruction" is a bootleg:

The time it took you to post this you could have told him yourself.

Either way, I've given up telling sellers that their listings aren't accurate because they either ignore you and don't change it, start an argument with you and don't change it or say they will change it and never do.

It's a lost cause.

But what kind of bootleg is it? As far as I know it's been available in regular stores here in Europe, perhaps it was meant to be official but the label ripped the band off and didn't pay 'em anything?

I have my doubts about this being a bootleg too and have discussed this many times before. Barricade was a legit label. I think this is just a case where the band didn't feel like they got a fair deal in the end so they slam the release as a bootleg. Who really knows though?

It was more of a rhetorical question. As you said it's pointless. After all, I don't care doing the anti-bootleg police. Every potential buyer must make a research and inform himself before buying, otherwise it's most possible to face the consequences.

This is probable. But there is no other safer or more objective way to track the bootlegs than the band's words on this. Unless the label is willing to publish the contract to prove its claims. :)

Does anybody know of any recent Pyracanda bootlegs? Especially "Two Sides Of A Coin"? I have encountered this album fairly cheap so I am wondering if any bootlegs surfaced?
