I wonder how many copies were printed of the purple Jaguar, yellow Fist etc etc? They seem to go for big money, but I'd like to think there are a lot of undiscovered copies out there.

You live near Raleigh nightsblood? Any other record fairs still happen in this area?
I used to; I went to NC State and then worked at Duke for a year. I'm now down in SC
THere used to be 2 record shows a year in Raleigh but they don't have them anymore. The closest ones I know of are in Greensboro (november and again in march or april), which are put on by Exploding Neds Tunes out of Georgia. He stocks a lot of power metal cds and some vinyl; last time I saw him he had a copy of the Valhalla EP and the Empyre EP. There's a fellow from one of the Raleigh suburbs (I forget which; it begins witha G) that also sets up and usually has a decent selection of metal vinyl and cd's. His name is Andy' nice guy, also sells on ebay. There's also a show in Chapel Hill but I don't know if it's done regularly or randomly. Hope that helps. I never found much good stuff in the RDUarea; GLockose used to search up there and had better luck. Schoolkids Records in Raleigh is good for metal cd's; there's also some used book & music stores down the street that are worth browsing once every few months. SOme other places are scattered in the Triangle

Ah, so they are doing a Raleigh show again; little earlier in the spring than in the past. Good deal! I won't make it to the shows; it's just far enough from here to greensboro (3-4 hours each way) that it's not quite worth it for what I'd likely find. I'd burn over $50 in gas and come away with nothing but a few cd's and maybe 1 LP that I could buy cheaper online. Sad but true
I think that Carborro show is the Chapel Hill show I mentioned; forgot the name of the place until you posted it.
Christian- The same guy puts on those shows, so he does sort of a traveling weekend show; Saturday in one city, Sunday in the other city, which is 1-2 hours away. The April show is put on by different folks; very little metal at that one when I've gone, more 'college rock' type stuff

Interesting, thanks. Might have a look at some of these next time I'm there.

There are a few more that are held at the Collages now that I have not been to but was told they are pretty good (Don't kow about metal though)
I listen to some other music, but I only really collect metal. Predominantly vinyl, CDs only for stuff that's not available/is extremely expensive on LP.
I go to Virginia Beach usually once every couple of months, so Newport News isn't far out of the way. And I suppose it would not be out of the question to go on a random trip elsewhere, I don't get out enough anyway.
Last I checked- which admittedly ain't very often- this was maybe a $150-200 set...?
Never quite understood the insanely high prices some people will pay for box sets.
